Emergency Apartments

The Housing Authority owns and operates four units of emergency housing in Tumwater.  Picture  Families with children are provided with 30 to 90 days of shelter while they locate permanent housing.  Case managers work with the families to address the issues that caused them to become homeless and provide them with referrals to other services available in the community.

The program provides short-term shelter for families only;  we are not able to assist single individuals.

The apartments are furnished with furniture, bedding, kitchen utensils and other household items to provide a home-like environment.

Families are referred by Safeplace, Salvation Army, Bread and Roses, or the Housing Authority.

During a families stay at the shelter, case management services will provide advocacy, information and referrals (including any medical or counseling needs), and ensure enrollment in school for all school-aged children.
