Ransomware Attack

On March 13th, 2019, the Housing Authority was the victim of a computer crime commonly known as “Ransomware”. Ransomware is a type of malware that locks up files by encryption on a computer or network. If this attack is successful, the perpetrator demands money to unlock or decrypt the files.

We were able to restore all of our computer files from backups and DID NOT pay any ransom to the perpetrators of this crime.
